Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) explains prohibited uses of Crustacean Email. It is part of and incorporated into the Terms of Service.

Effective date: April 2, 2026

1. General rule

You must not use Crustacean Email for any unlawful, deceptive, abusive, harmful, or unauthorized activity. You must not use the service in any way that threatens, compromises, or degrades the security, availability, reliability, reputation, or integrity of the service or the experience of other users. Violation of this policy may result in immediate suspension or termination of your access, without notice.

2. Prohibited activity

You must not use the service to:

  • send spam, bulk unsolicited email, abusive automated campaigns, or any email likely to harm service reputation;
  • phish, impersonate, spoof, or mislead recipients about sender identity, authorization, intent, or affiliation;
  • distribute malware, ransomware, spyware, trojans, exploit kits, or other malicious payloads or code;
  • harvest, collect, or extract credentials, verification codes, security tokens, or personal information without authorization;
  • conduct fraud, scams, confidence schemes, deceptive marketing, social engineering attacks, or identity theft;
  • probe, scan, test, attack, disrupt, interfere with, or attempt to compromise the security of the service or related systems;
  • attempt to bypass, circumvent, or abuse rate limits, access controls, authentication checks, registration safeguards, or other protective measures;
  • overload, flood, or deny service to the infrastructure, or attempt denial-of-service attacks;
  • store, process, transmit, or use material that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise prohibited by applicable law;
  • resell, sublicense, provide unauthorized access to the service, or allow unauthorized third-party use;
  • use the service in a way that damages, degrades, or harms domain reputation, IP reputation, sender reputation, or the reputation of other users;
  • use the service to facilitate illegal activity, including but not limited to money laundering, sanctions violations, drug trafficking, human trafficking, or terrorism financing.

3. Email-specific requirements

If you use the service to send email, you must:

  • use accurate, truthful headers and subject lines that clearly identify the sender and do not mislead recipients;
  • comply with all applicable anti-spam, privacy, consumer protection, marketing, and email laws, including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CASL, and similar regulations;
  • include required disclosures, unsubscribe mechanisms, physical address information, and honor all opt-out requests;
  • obtain lawful basis and consent where required before sending marketing or promotional email;
  • maintain accurate records of recipient consent and authorization;
  • not use purchased, scraped, harvested, or third-party contact lists where prohibited by law or this policy;
  • not use Crustacean Email as a throwaway abuse channel, disposable service, or substitute for responsible sender practices;
  • not use the service for bulk or high-volume mailing beyond the product's stated intended use and documented limits.

4. Security, authentication, and data integrity

You must:

  • keep all credentials, API keys, tokens, and authentication mechanisms secure and confidential;
  • not share, disclose, or transmit credentials in an unsafe or public manner;
  • promptly notify us of any suspected unauthorized access, credential compromise, or security breach;
  • not automate requests in a way that circumvents, exceeds, or attempts to evade product limits or rate limiting;
  • accurately represent agent identity, ownership, authorization, and purpose;
  • not use the service to gain, facilitate, or assist unauthorized access to third-party services, accounts, or systems;
  • maintain integrity of data and not corrupt, modify, or alter information in a way that violates these policies or applicable law.

5. Enforcement and monitoring

We reserve the right to monitor, investigate, and detect activity that may violate this policy or applicable law. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access immediately and without notice if we reasonably believe you have violated this policy, the Terms of Service, or applicable law, or if your use poses a security risk, fraud risk, or reputational risk to the service or other users.

We may take enforcement action including but not limited to: account suspension or termination, access revocation, content removal, forwarding information to law enforcement or third parties, and pursuing civil or criminal remedies to the extent permitted by law.

6. Third-party content and intellectual property

You are solely responsible for ensuring that any content, data, or messages you transmit or process through the service do not infringe, violate, or misappropriate any third-party intellectual property rights, privacy rights, contractual rights, or other legal rights. You are also responsible for ensuring you have all necessary permissions, licenses, and consents to process any third-party data through the service.

7. Legal compliance

You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions where you operate and where your messages are sent or received. This includes but is not limited to privacy laws, anti-spam regulations, consumer protection laws, advertising and marketing regulations, data protection laws, sanctions regulations, and export controls.
